During the Camel period, it seems that one single style established itself throughout the Sahara. To our western eyes, this style does not appear artistic. Both the people and the animals (among which camels predominate) are represented in a way which looks to us crude and often schematic. Some exceptions exist in the Ennedi, where fine paintings of horses and camels in a "flying gallop" pose can be found.
